Cookie Policy

This section provides Users with specific information on what cookies and similar technologies are: the two terms are used interchangeably for the purposes described.

Cookies: small strings of text (generally made up of letters and numbers) that websites visited by a User (‘first-party’) or other websites or web servers (‘third-party’) place and store within the browser used by the User to browse on any device (‘Device’, for example, computer, tablet, smartphone or any other device capable of storing information).

Other technologies: technologies that store data in a browser or Device using local shared objects or local storage, such as flash cookies, HTML 5 cookies and cookies used by other software methods used for web applications. These technologies work in all browsers. In some cases, the use of local storage cannot be fully managed by browsers. They must be managed by specific tools.

This section provides Users with more information on the characteristics of cookies used by the Site and by Services.

Cookie types based on their purpose

The following types of cookie can be installed in the browser on a User’s Device:

• technical cookies: these ensure that our Site and our Services work correctly, and to ensure that the User can use their functionality;

• analytic cookies: these allow us to improve the performance of our Site and our Services and to assess the effectiveness of a service offered through the Site;

• profiling cookies: these allow ENI Plenitude or our partners to send targeted advertising material or material that is in line with a User’s interests, once the User has given consent.

Cookie types based on their duration

Session cookies: these cookies can remain in a Device’s browser for the duration of a session (i.e., until the browser used to browse the Site is closed or the User ceases to use a Service). Permanent cookies: these cookies can remain for long periods and may contain a unique identification code.

Cookie types based on the owner of the cookie

First-party cookies: these cookies may be owned by the host of the Site and the Service. The owner may install them on the browser on the User’s Device. Third-party cookies: a Site may contain cookies from other sites, owned by third-party entities, and contained in various elements hosted by the Site (e.g., advertising banners, images, videos, etc.).

The purpose of this section is to provide Users with specific information on the types of cookie that are used on the Site and the purposes for installing these cookies on the browser on a User’s Device.

Technical cookies used to enable the Site and Services to function correctly

We use technical cookies to allow Users to move within the Site, to use our Services and to take advantage of their different functionalities, for example, to record the User’s choices during browsing, to access reserved areas on the Site and on Services. Without these cookies, the Site may not function correctly (for example. to allow registered Users to access the Personal Area). For this reason, we will not request consent to install them.

First-party analytic cookies used to assess performance and to improve the Site and Services

After a User gives consent, ENI Plenitude uses its own analytic cookies, i.e., first-party cookies, to assess and improve the performance of its Site and Services. These cookies collect information used exclusively for aggregated analyses that are not based on a User’s personal data, such as IP address. Examples of the information collected include: how Users browse the Site and use Services (e.g., pages visited, where the User interrupts the online contracting process), what aspects of the Site and Service are of most interest to Users or how Users easily find the information they want.

Also, ENI Plenitude may use tracking scripts that function in a manner similar to analytic cookies so as to perform a sample analysis on the behaviour of the Site’s Users (e.g. mouse movements and positioning on the Site and on related content)

Third-party analytic cookies used by third parties to improve the Site and Services

After obtaining the User’s consent, ENI Plenitude also uses third-party cookies to analyse the ways in which User browse the Site, the number of pages visited or the number of clicks on a page during the time the Site is being browsed. 

First-party profiling cookies

When a User views certain content and, more generally, uses the Site and Services, ENI Plenitude may, after obtaining the User’s consent, install first-party profiling cookies.

These cookies allow the Site and the Services to record the preferences expressed by the User during visits to the Site, to analyse the User’s behaviour and to personalise specific content on the Site and for Services based on each User, so as to develop content and to send advertising messages in line with the User’s preferences expressed when browsing the Site.

Third-party profiling cookies

ENI Plenitude uses commercial partners to show advertising communications on third-party websites regarding its Site and Services and to allow commercial partners to show advertising content relating to the preferences of the User visiting our Site or using one of our Services. To allow this, after obtaining the User’s consent, we will install third-party profiling cookies.

For example, these cookies are used by commercial partners to show to the User when they visit from other sites, banners that advertise ENI Plenitude products or services and those that are in its interests or similar to those viewed. They can also be based on browsing history.

To see detailed information on each cookie used by our Site (e.g., details on third parties, storage of information acquired) and to manage consent for each type of cookie (in particular, to give or withdraw consent), Users can go to our cookie centre at any time.

First-party cookies will not be used to communicate personal data to third parties. However, third-party cookies may communicate personal data.

The purpose of this section is to give Users information on the timescales and/or criteria used to store information collected through cookies, which will be stored for the length of time necessary to achieve the purpose for which each cookie has been installed.

The purpose of this section is to provide Users with information on the transfer outside the European Union of personal data collected through first-party and third-party cookies.

The personal data collected using our first-party cookies will not be transferred to third-party companies in countries that are not part of the European Union or the European Economic Area. Where the transfer of data is required to achieve our purposes, we will adopt all measures that are necessary to guarantee an appropriate level of personal data protection (e.g., standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions).

The purpose of this section is to provide Users with specific information on their rights and on the methods they can use to personalise their choices regarding the installation of each type of cookie.

Rights of users and managing cookie choices
Users have rights that are set out in Regulation (EU) 679/2016 (‘GDPR’). These include the right of access, the right to object, the right to erasure, and the right to modify at any time the choices expressed regarding the use of cookies. This can be done in our cookie centre.

Disabling cookies from a browser
As well as being able to disable cookies in the cookie centre, as shown above, a User can configure his/her browser to restrict the number of accepted cookies or to block all cookies. Browser settings can be changed in the following ways:
